Going with the Flow
Coddiwomple. My word of the year. And not just because it’s so fun to say. To coddiwomple is ‘to travel purposefully toward an as-yet-unknown destination’. Now, to some people that might sound like a fun trip. But me, I’m a woman who loves a detailed plan (throw in an excel spreadsheet and I’m in seventh heaven!). So, the ‘as-yet-unknown’ is more than a bit outside my comfort zone.
But I’m making it a goal this year to coddiwomple more often. For me, this means letting go of the over-planning and over-preparing. It means having a big picture vision of the WHAT I want and then sitting more in the unknown of the HOW it’s going to happen. Because allowing yourself to be in the flow of possibilities is where the magic happens. Where the opportunities that you might never have imagined have a chance to surface. And as I move forward into the unknown on my new entrepreneurial journey as a therapist and professional speaker, I feel like it is exactly what I need.
Terrifying? Yup. But I’m pretty sure it won’t kill me, so off I go.
Today, I invite you also to think about an area in your work or life where you could do a little coddiwompling. Who know what might happen? And maybe I’ll see you on the road😊
